Well I never thought I'd write about Elvis on this blog. My other blog is full of Elvis references, but not this one. That is until today! Elvis died on this day in 1977 and I'm going through Elvis music and I rediscovered all of his gospels classics.
Gospel music was something that Elvis loved to sing at Graceland. Well, when he wasn't shooting out TVs with a .45. I had heard some of them before, but since my walk with Christ began anew, I am really getting into all of the gospel songs he recorded.
So, thank you Elvis for recording them and thank the Lord that I can really understand now what he is singing about!!!
Here is one of his songs from early in his career :-)

Laugh A Little...I Promise It Won't Hurt!!!
I listen a lot to KGSN and they have an encouraging thought every day. Today's ET (that's my own abbreviation, but you can use it. Actually, I think ET means something else, too) was from the Book of Job. I used to think that was a book of classified jobs. I know, that's an old joke, that's why I added the word "classified." But, it didn't help it!!
The ET is: Job 8:21 He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Of course it meant much more in the context of Job's story, but it really rings true to me. I love to laugh. In fact, the funniest things I have seen are the hits to the "man-area" on America's Funniest Home Videos (can I say that?? Well, I am the writer, so I think I can). I laugh sooooo long at those. And they are the big belly-bustin' type of laughs! Although, I pretty much laugh at everything. And making other people laugh is an even better feeling!! I try to do that a lot, too!
I think this would be a great life-verse for someone like me!! Praising the Lord AND laughter - I can't think of anything better!! Although, deep fried turkey wrapped in bacon may come close! I am just kidding. Well, kind of...

Hebrews 4:16
Hello. Sorry I took the summer off (you know because there are SOOO many people that read this...) That was joke. Told to you with confidence. Confidence is what I am going to write about today. Nice segue huh? And I don't mean the electric bikes! Actually, calling it a 'bike' is not really that accurate. Let's call them 'standing up straight while electrically moving things.' Actually, I think segue is a fine definition. But that is not what this is about...
When I read Hebrews chapter 4, something about verse 16 struck me. It says "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
Now, I am confident when I tell jokes (even bad ones), I offer up my BBQ to people with confidence, I tell people I have never seen any part of the Twilight series with confidence and I am still an LA Clippers fan with confidence.
But one thing I am not confident about sometimes is my praying to God. Whether it's in times of trouble or despair, I lack confidence when I am talking to the Lord. I guess you could say that I kind of fear the Lord sometimes (which I thought was a good thing). I need to remember that God is our heavenly father and he knows what is best for us and WHEN something is best for us... in HIS plan.
So, have a great day and go to God with confidence!!
